Professor Stephen Buckman has commenced his new role as ARC executive director for Physical Science, Engineering, Mathematics and Information Sciences.
He replaces Professor Clive Baldock, who is returning to the University of Tasmania to take up a new role as pro vice-chancellor (Researcher Development).
Professor Buckman, an expert in atomic physics, has recently retired from his position as director of the Research School of Physics and Engineering at the Australian National University. He was also research director of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Antimatter-Matter Studies between 2006 and 2012.
